A first for Rawanq: Nour lands 1,000 tons of tuna in Salalah

Rawanq Al Salam International has achieved an important milestone, and a proud first, with the successful landing of tuna from our vessel Nour in Salalah, Oman.

On October 28, 2025, Nour arrived at the Port of Salalah carrying over 1,000 tons of frozen tuna. The operation went smoothly from start to finish, marking the first-ever tuna landing in Salalah and a major step forward for Rawanq’s regional operations.

“It was a big moment for our team,” said Arnar Berg Grétarsson, Rawanq's Fleet Operations Director. “Everyone, from the Salalah operations crew to the Nour team, worked together seamlessly. It’s something we can all be proud of.”

This first landing in Oman wasn’t just symbolic, it made practical sense.

At this time of year, tuna is caught farther north in the Indian Ocean, making Salalah an efficient and strategic choice. The port offers excellent access to container shipping and reliable logistics, ensuring a faster, smoother route from sea to market.

The tuna landed by Nour is sold to Rawanq’s trusted partners and customers around the world, where it’s processed and canned for global distribution. From there, it finds its way into everyday kitchens across continents, enjoyed by households everywhere.

Looking Ahead

With this successful operation behind us, Rawanq expects to make Salalah regular landing points for our tuna fleet. Each port will be selected based on fishing locations, logistics and export needs.

Nour, like the rest of Rawanq’s tuna vessels, continues its work across the Indian Ocean, delivering responsibly caught, high-quality tuna to global markets.

“This landing showed what’s possible when planning, teamwork and timing all come together,” said Arnar. “It’s an exciting beginning, not only for Rawanq, but for the growing tuna industry in Oman.
